บทคัดย่อ
Abstract
Empirical evidences in many Western literatures reveal that international students encounter many challenges in their education. There is, however, a dearth of relevant studies in the Asian context, particularly in Thailand, investigating foreign students’ perception, behavior and outcomes on the internationalization of higher education. The current research is a study of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University International College, examining the relationship between students’ perception with their satisfaction and performance.
It further investigates in-depth the educational and socio-emotional experiences through qualitative study. Findings indicate that perceived internationalization has direct effect on satisfaction in line with existing theories on alienation and integration. However, the negative relationship between satisfaction and performance is a departure from the commonly-held view that high satisfaction translates to high performance, or that dissatisfaction results to poor performance. The negative mediating effect of satisfaction suggests that students may still achieve good academic performance even in the face of non-satisfying educational contexts. Recommendations for strategic ways and policies are presented to further develop the various aspects of internationalization in the context of the International College.
